We provide a full range of business advice and accounting services to our agriculture customers and focus on building great relationships with them, so we can walk side by side with them. We are currently in the market for an Intermediate Accountant with experience and interest in working with agriculture customers to work as part of our nationwide Agribusiness team. You should be CA or CPA qualified – or working towards it, or QBE (qualified by experience). Experience in a CA firm and dealing with agriculture business and experience with Figured would be an advantage.

 

About the role

We are looking for an Intermediate Accountant who gets excited by working with business owners, helping them understand their numbers. You will be passionate about the success of their business, and your typical day will extend beyond compliance into the realm of providing tangible value-add business advice to business owners.

We are looking for someone in the New Plymouth region to work with our local customers. Our cloud-based systems and flexibility mean working from home may be possible at times, for the right person. We will also consider applications from candidates interesting in working either full or part-time hours. 


Key duties will include: 
  • Preparation of year-end financial statements and tax returns;
  • Monthly and quarterly management reporting for key customers;
  • Tax Planning, cashflows, budgeting, and other advisory work;
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with a portfolio of customers.
Skills, behaviours and experience:  
  • A minimum of two years' general accounting experience;
  • Recent public practice experience in a BAS environment at Accountant level;
  • Recent experience with New Zealand tax as relevant to the SME environment;
  • Strong commercial acumen;
  • Able to create and maintain strong working relationships with customers and colleagues;
  • Able to prioritise and manage workload effectively and to specified deadlines;
  • Solutions focused;
  • Experience using Xero and other cloud based software including Spotlight, Futurli, Figured, or CashManager Rural is an advantage.
